General Education Requirements: Curriculum for Liberal Education |

|
Per State Policy on Transfer, students who begin their work (native Virginia Community College or Richard Bland students) toward the baccalaureate degree by enrolling in transfer programs at a Virginia Community College or Richard Bland College, who graduate with associate degrees based upon a baccalaureate-oriented sequence of courses, and who are offered admission to Virginia Tech will be granted junior level status upon admission. Additionally, these students will have fulfilled the requirements of the Curriculum for Liberal Education. However, it may take such students longer than two years to complete the baccalaureate degree because of major prerequisites and other circumstances or requirements (State Policy on Transfer, Section II). Non-native students are those students who do not begin their college work at the community college, but rather transfer to the community college and complete the transfer associate degree. General education requirements for all other students must be satisfied through the Curriculum for Liberal Education. The Liberal Education requirements a transfer student must fulfill are determined by the student's dean based upon the class (freshman, sophomore, junior, senior) into which a student falls at the time the student enters Virginia Tech. A complete list of courses appears in the Curriculum for Liberal Education Guide. |

These are courses which have VCCS equivalents. While using the list, remember that your academic program may require you to select particular courses. Major and college requirements (if any) are indicated for all programs in the section on Course Recommendations by Major. Some courses must be taken in sequence to fulfill the Area requirement. Refer to your major's worksheet to determine which courses are required for an Area.
