Course Recommendations by Virginia Tech Major

This site contains course recommendations for each undergraduate degree program at Virginia Tech. The lists are alphabetical by major and include recommendations for study during the first year or two years preceding transfer. Virginia Tech course numbers are listed in the column on the right with Virginia community college equivalents on the left.

Unless otherwise noted, the Foreign Language Requirement policy applies to all majors.

Prospective transfer students who are not attending Virginia community colleges may use this guide in the following way:

  1. Look up your intended VT major and make a list of the VT course numbers we recommend.
  2. Look up the course descriptions listed by department in the Undergraduate Course Catalog.
  3. Match those descriptions with course descriptions in the course catalog of your institution, to identify appropriate equivalents.
  4. Verify the list with the transfer advisor in your intended college/department at Virginia Tech.
